Anthropic also points to the already available plugins that give Cowork specialized expertise in areas such as design, engineering, or law. An overview of the available plugins can be found here. In addition, Cowork now includes a new “Customize” section in the sidebar, allowing users to centrally manage plugins, capabilities, and integrations.

Cowork is available as a research preview for macOS and Windows and is open to all paying Claude subscribers. As with all agent-based AI systems that can be vulnerable to cybersecurity risks, users are advised to carefully review which parts of their computer they grant the software access to.
